Zalando is a big player in the fashion industry, and with that comes responsibility. That’s why we appreciate their initiatives that are targeted at contributing to a more sustainable industry. The Zalando Sustainability Award – currently on display at Copenhagen Fashion Week, with the winner being announced tomorrow Thursday – was introduced for the first time last season and sheds light on brands working hard at their sustainability efforts.

This season’s finalists is a group of diverse but all-relevant brands. Their collections will be on display at Zalando’s Greenhouse at Copenhagen Fashion Week (which is altogether powered by Zalando), alongside interesting Talks and live-streamed shows. Pay the Greenhouse a visit here.

Let us introduce to you the three finalists:

Mother of Pearl: The integrity of creative director Amy Powney’s work towards making Mother of Pearl a responsible business is what makes the brand one of the leaders of its kind in the UK.
The creative level of Teatum Jones is unmistakable. They were once described as being part of the ’kindness economy’, using local communities as inspiration and finding innovative ways to reuse and repurpose materials”. That's exactly it.
Nikolaj Storm is a young brand with the sustainability mindset built into its core, as a given part of the business. That’s what makes the brand exciting. Introducing new ideas, like a bespoke service and upcycling garments that are worn out in collaboration with the customer returning it, without making a big thing out of it, is why we enjoy seeing where this brand is heading.
