I’m no one for eye makeup these days. I try to keep my morning routine as short as possible to spend more time in bed with Dylan before work. But every now and then I like to do my signature party makeup from my early twenties, which was a classic eyeliner in a smokey black. New Year’s is one of those occasions! Today I’m wearing RMS Vintage Cake liner and my Lashfood 3d mascara.
The Year Sum Up

This year has been special in more ways than I can say, so I’d like to share three big things that I’m truly happy about from the past year. Firstly: this was the year my baby celebrated his first birthday, and surfed and skied for the first time. It’s the year I got married, and the year I finally started feeling a kind of internal calmness for the first time in a very long time.
Becoming a mother has been such a big step for me in so many ways—thrilling, scary and so much fun. Dylan gives us so much joy and has a curiosity about life that is truly contagious. He just started skiing and loves it! Seeing the world through his eyes makes me feel hopeful. And I can’t wait for André, Dylan and me to get back in the water surfing again!

Getting married was never a big thing for me. I never wanted a big wedding and had honestly not given it much thought at all. In my head, having a kid and owning a house together was bigger than a marriage license. When André popped the question, I was surprised by how moved I was. I actually started crying. The small wedding we had in France was just for André, myself, Dylan, Dylan’s godfather Adam and his girlfriend. Standing on the clip high over the ocean where we had been surfing all summer, promising each other love, was amazing. So was the small wedding for our families at city hall.

I think the calmness I described comes from feeling a kind of balance in myself for the first time. I now know when I have to take a step back from work, I know what kind of people I want to surround my family with, and I know how I want to spend my spare time: climbing, surfing and yoga are keeping both mind and body in shape. These are three things I’d like to spend more time doing in 2018.
Shapes

These are all new additions to our home, and I really like the different shapes of all three items. The Greta Lisa Jäderholm-Snellman lamp and the George Jensen pitcher are actually old, since I got them at an auction. The small, handmade espresso cups however are fair-trade and come from Nepal. You’ll find them at Afro art.
