In their efforts of achieving broader casting diversity, H&M now teams up with Caitlyn Jenner as the new face for their sportswear line.
Caitlyn Jenner is on the radar again and so are H&M’s casting diversity efforts – this time joint together as Jenner has been appointed the new face of H&M’s sportswear line. The 66-year-old former athlete/Olympic gold medallist (and trans profile of the moment) was picked to front the collection as a way of illustrating that “everything is possible – in sports and in life”, according to a H&M spokesperson. Jenner is a continuation of the gender and body-fluid casting seen (and praised) at the retailer’s latest Studio show during Paris Fashion Week – though critics mean that empowering and inclusive promotional efforts may distract from the struggles of marginalised people in the production.
