On our minds: Pyer Moss AW16

After tackling police violence, Pyer Moss latest collection gain inspiration from depression and mental illness.

On our minds is Pyer Moss’ recent AW16 show at NYFW. With his tendency to tap into very cause-specific topics little explored by others, designer Kerby Jean-Raymond followed up his SS16 anti-police violence show with one tackling depression and mental illness. Styled by multi-creative Erykah Badu, the collection was filled with street-nodding pieces including bomber jackets and puffer overalls, most accentuated with pins and printed text referring to the cause of choice. The show also saw one of the models carrying a picket sign referencing the last Facebook post of Black Lives Matter activist MarShawn McCarrel who suffered from depression which cost him his life.
