Gender-fluid casting at Margiela

We were intrigued to see Margiela applying some gender-fluid casting to the couture show.

Following our recent feature on the mixed-gender ready-to-wear shows, we were intrigued to see Margiela applying the gender-fluid casting approach also to their couture show just passed. Galliano’s second “Artisanal” collection for Margiela featured two upcoming male models John Whiles and Carl Hjelm Sandqvist as well as Erika Linder who is crossing the mens and womens’ board and acting both as a male and female model (and has previously done so simultaneously in the same shoot). We loved her uncompromised masculine showcase of the oversized dress she wore at the Artisanal show. See the collection in full here.
