We are excited to see Prada’s high end take on wooden sunglasses with the introduction of Prada Raw.
Wood has been a recurring material for sunglasses the last few Spring/Summer seasons though mostly in a niche context and in the shape of sustainably-labelled Wayfarer copies. We were therefore excited to see Prada’s high end take with the introduction of Prada Raw for SS15, a limited collection of women’s sunglasses made entirely from luxurious woods including natural black walnut and Malabar ebony. The styles are mimicking popular frame designs from previous seasons in the brand’s characteristic bold retro shapes. We cheer this successful attempt to make wooden frames elegant with a refreshing architecture-nodding feel. More here.
