Another fashion week… really?

Is there really a need for a pre-collection fashion week in London?

On our minds is British Fashion Council’s recent announcement on the introduction of a new “mini fashion week” dedicated to pre-collections. The showcase will take place 1517 June and feature both established and upcoming British designers and brands. Though its purpose has been justified by BFC to “help buyers, press and brands to coordinate London dates”, we feel the move is somewhat strange at a time when brands, journalists and forecasters are increasingly expressing a favour for the seasonless and critique of the fashion week phenomenon for its negative impact on designers’ mental health.
