True Love with Atelier Cologne

The Atelier Cologne narrative is a true love story. Smell trotters Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel first met in New York in 2006, and some year later, Sylvie revealed her dream to create her own Maison de Parfum during a life-changing dinner in downtown Manhattan.
It turned out, the pair shared a passion for Eau de Cologne and in the spur of the moment, Christophe offered to partner with Sylvie on creating Atelier Cologne, the first Maison de Perfume creating Pure Perfumes inspired by Eau de Cologne.

– Atelier Cologne was born out of our encounter and our love. Perfume has always been our passion and our profession. Our dream was to create cologne of character to wear as Pure Perfume, all the while exalting the elegance and magical freshness of cologne. In 2009, our dream came true. We gave birth to our new perfume family: the Cologne Absolute.

So what is Cologne Absolute? Let’s start with the basics. The original Eau de Cologne was created in 1709 in Cologne, Germany, by Italian perfumer and avant-garde globetrotter Giovanni Maria Farina. His blend of citruses became a revolutionary alternative to the heavy scents of the time and inspired a new way to wear personal fragrance.
Cologne, then, is a citrus-based scent. And as much as they are both fresh and elegant, they tend not to last on the skin. Sylvie and Christophe put years of research to create a formula that offers the same freshness and elegance of Eau de Cologne, but with the exceptional long-lasting power of a Pure Perfume. They called the formula Cologne Absolue.
The key to the Cologne Absolue family? The use of very high quality natural essential oils at the highest possible level of concentration. All Cologne Absolue perfumes are made from 84% to 95% renewable natural origin ingredients of the highest quality. Working with two ancestral French essential oil producers, Robertet and Mane based in Grasse in the south of France, the exceptional quality is guaranteed. In Grasse, the essences are crafted from the exceptional raw materials that are sourced from around the world. Each Cologne Absolue, from the perfume itself to the bottle and all its components, is 100% made in France.

Now you might want to know how you can you experience Atelier Cologne. Well, start by visiting an Atelier Cologne boutique.
