Birthday dress

Posted in Style

Emma is very happy for her birthday gifts.

I got this beautiful vintage dress for my birthday from André this weekend. What a guy I have! The tread is of silver and I can’t wait to wear it with my black knee high suede boots. He also got me a pair of ice skates, that’s another thing I am longing for! To get to skate on the lake next to our new house and drink hot chocolate in front of the fire place.

Love a beret

Dylan is sporting a new look and doing his Ingmar Bergman stare.

The other day Dylan’s godfather came by with this beautiful beret that hi found at a charity shop. Dylan instantly understod that a beret call for a more serious look. Here he is doing his Ingmar Bergman interpretation, pretty good ha?

French Press

You only need is water and coffee, no filter or coffee capsules needed.

French press, Tiamo.

I get so inspired by the lovely Lauren who writes the blog Trash is for tossers. She is writing about how to live a trash free life, please have a look at her site! You won’t be sorry! Since coffee is vital for me to function as a normal human being right now I was so happy when I found this stainless steal french press pot. It’s completely plastic free, keep the coffee warm and the only thing you need is water and coffee. No filter or coffee capsules needed. And not to mention the taste, in my opinion it’s the best coffee there is! When I make a port the smell reminds me of when when we spent our summers on their sailboat, my mother would make french press coffee.

Yogish Collective

Emma has a new favorite brand.

If you would like to carry your yoga-mat stylishly to the studio I would recommend these leather straps made in soft organic leather. Since I can not find my mat (I hid it during my pregnancy so it would not judge me when I was eating french fries) this blanket had to fill in for it. The brand Yogish collective only works with organic, eco-friendly and sustainable materials in small-scale productions to ensure quality and sustainability.

Cloak coat

Emma is looking forward to fall and winter coats.

Is it just me or are you guys also thrilled that it’s finally time to switch to winter coats? I just love to dress in layers, wear big scarves and wooly hats! Today I am wearing this coat that is a vintage find from Vestiaire Collective that I got last spring. I might end up living in i for the rest of this autumn. Mainly because it’s warm and cosy but also because I feel like I am on my way to a defence against the dark arts lesson.

DIY: baby gym

Emma shows how to make a baby gym. Easy, cheap and fun to make!

This weekend we made a baby gym for Dylan out of left over wood from when we built the bedroom wall. The sting, the paint and the wooden beads we had at home but the round stick in the middle we bought. But if you have an old broomstick you can use that instead! The paint is from Grandpa and called Fridhemsgatan. And the toys are from the organic brand Finn and Emma.

Emma is looking forward to the weekend – and a baby without a cold.

The week of red noses and sore throats has finally come to an end! The weekend is finally around the corner and we are feeling a bit better. My little hero has suffered his first cold with a smile on his face! Not in this picture though, in this picture he was ready for bed and very determined that nothing else was in his interest. I am finally starting to see myself in this little gem’s face, it feels amazing and super weird at the same time. To grasp that he has a part of me in him is almost impossible, that he use to live on my belly is ungraspable.

At the time of writing André is on his way to pick up my father’s car that we are borrowing for the weekend. We have found loads of second hand furniture online for the new house that we are picking up tomorrow. I am really exited for the “growing bed” that I’ve found for Dylan, I know just what color I am going to paint it in!

Emma's new favorite super food has both anti-inflammatory and anti-depressants effects.

Today I started my morning with a super smoothy hoping the turmeric and ginger would kick mine and Dylans cold hard in the butt! A year ago I was working with a photographer that passionately preaching about the benefits of turmeric. Ever since I’ve wanted to add turmeric to my daily food rutin. Two of the almost endless benefits is the anti-inflammatory and anti-depressants effects. The later one is very welcome to me since the days are getting darker here in Sweden which really calls for a colorful pick me up. Mix the Turmeric with black pepper to get maximum effect.

Our next door neighbor

I won’t just be a mom, I’ll be a suburban mom (!!!).

First, I would like to sincerely thank you all for the amazing things you write here on the blog. Your words and thoughts are what makes writing here fun! It’s only a month until we are moving from Södermalm in Stockholm to a little house just outside of Stockholm. And it’s with mixed emotions I am leaving the city. On one hand I can’t wait to come closer to nature, I mean this lake is one of nearest neighbors (!) and I know that life will be so much easier with both dog and baby. On the other I have lived here on Södermalm all of my adult life and might have a small personal crises before the move, I mean now I won’t just be a mom, I’ll be a suburban mom (!!!) which sounds scarier than it is? That was all from this whiny snotty person today, hope you all are well!

The ultimat look for autumn.

Pic: Chicama & Filippa K.

Today I woke up with a sore throat and a feverish cold. So now I am terrified that Dylan will catch the same thing, so as we speak I am drinking loads orange juice and a cup of honey with a dash of tea like a crazy person. If I am not making sense it’s because I blame the fever. On a completely different note, here are two pictures that conclude how I wanna dress this fall. Big knits and jeans for ever day wear. And IF I would have a dinner event later on this year, I wouldn’t mind this dress from Filippa K’s SS17. It might even look nice to wear the dress with a chunky knit over and a pair of white sneakers…

Maple wood

Emma's plans for this weekend is to build a baby gym.

This weekend I only have one thing on my to-do list. That is to build a baby gym for Dylan! This is one of my drawings of what it might come to look like. In the picture is also one of the toys I will tie on the rack. Dylan got it from our friends Josephine and Christoffer a few weeks back from Wooden story. It’s a handmade organic maple wood peace sign. Beautiful isn’t? I also just ordered these organic toys from Finn + Emma. I couldn’t help myself, I fell in love with the pirate.

Emma is not ready to say goodbye to all this green just yet.

This is the view from my balcony, is it not beautiful? I know that we have had a beautiful summer and I am looking forward to get my autumn gear on (hats and scarfs) but I am not ready to say goodbye to all this green just yet.

Everybody should be more like Ernst.

This is my favorite corner of our home right now. Everything is second hand stuff that I have found really cheap exempt the lamp that I got at Ikea when I was 16. Might need to make a new screen for it like my favorite tv-host the Swede Ernst. I think everybody should be more like Ernst, it would make this world a better place.

The Wonder Weeks

Two things that I am so happy to have invested in!

Baby wipe towels, Laplandecostore. Baby oil, Weleda.

There are two things that I am very happy to have invested in when it comes to baby stuff. The first thing was these little towels that we use as washing cloths when we are changing diapers. They are a lot more environmental friendly and (cheaper in the long run) then baby wipes that you can only use once. The first week home with Dylan we used 60 towels in just one day!

The other thing that has been a great help is an app called The wonder weeks. With this app you can follow your kids physical and cognitive development. It shows when when the baby will have a tougher time coping with the chanes and new skills that they are developing. So in other words it marks when you probably won’t get as much sleep, which for a control freak like me is great, because then I can mentally prepare myself beforehand. This might sound to good to be true but so far Dylan is following the leaps on to the day!

My amazing life

Posted in Life
by Emma Elwin on 9 September, 2016

The truth about having a kid is...

Hanging out with a baby all day and all night is pretty amazing. Hanging out with a baby all day and all night is also REALLY fucking tough. Dylan make me see why life is all about, one smile from him and I now my reason to live. But also the reason that I sometimes feel like the day does not have enough hours. And I feel guilty for wanting him to spend those early mornings with André so that I get to sleep an extra hour. Sometimes I even feel guilty for putting him in the babysitter for two minutes when he’s crying because I haven’t been able to go to the toilet for hours. Over all Dylan is treating me really good, he talks back to me and smiles a lot! He sleeps all night and likes to hang on my belly in his Baby björn when I am walking Stella. I just felt like this dreamy picture needed some reality in text. So to summarize babies are AMAZING, but sometimes you find yourself walking on your knees with a bladder that is about to explode, you haven’t eaten since breakfast and your approaching late Italian dinner time.

Charity auction

Combining two great things, selling things secondhand and donating the profit to a good cause.

When I saw these Teddy overalls on Tradera I just could not help myself. When I saw that it was an charity auction for the organization Make a Change that was it. I HAD to have it! I am really inspired by Isabella Löwengrip that is combining these two great things, selling things secondhand and donating the profit to a good cause. And so I have decided to do the same thing with Dylan’s clothes!

Emma replaces her morning coffee with matcha latte. Should she avoid aloe vera?

I am trying to keep away from cinnamon rolls and instead get some more greens into my daily routine again. Although I just read that women who breastfeed should not drink aloe vera, do you guys know anything about that? Sounds weird to me. My morning coffee has been replaced with a nice matcha latte with honey, yum!

Vintage denim love

Emma got some high quality inspiration the hour she spent on Stockholm fashion week.

I had a very productive day (hour) that I spent outside of Berns the other day. I am not a big fan when it comes to dress up for fashion week, I sort of get a wardrobe anxiety every year. But I love to watch others that seam to be born to on front row looking smashing all the time. Here is an example of two ladys in flounces and bright red matched with vintage denim that made my day.

A quick visit

by Emma Elwin on 1 September, 2016

Emma left the sofa yesterday for one hour of fashion week with the Make it last team.

Sweater and sneakers, Filippa k. Jeans and jacket, Acne studios. Bag, Granit.

Yesterday I paid fashion week a quick visit. Since I’ve been living in my recycled cashmere sweater I saw no reason to stop for fashion week. Today we are spending all day on the sofa in our pyjamas.
