On more meeting then…

I have one more meeting and then It's finally time for...

I have one more meeting and then It’s finally time to go to the country house. Even though it is gonna rain I’m so exited to get out to the country side for some peace and quiet.

Can I tell you a secret?

Can I tell you a secret? I actually like this kind of weather, a bit chilly and rain. I mean I don’t want the whole summer be like this but for the present moment, It really suits my mood.

It's early morning we've just arrived to Torö. The sun has not risen yet, but it's quite light already. The morning air is crisp and as we make our way down to the rocky beach the wind increases.

It’s early morning we’ve just arrived to Torö. The sun has not risen yet, but it’s quite light already. The morning air is crisp and as we make our way down to the rocky beach the wind increases.Down at the beach I am happy to see a few small waves. Super excited I run back up to the car to jump into my wet suit. I’m not even bothered to bring my gloves with me – something I regret after spending 10 minutes in the cold water. But after 20 minutes I have forgotten everything about cold hands. I’m paddling like a crazy person on every wave that comes towards me. I am zigzagging in between the rocks and at one point I’m really close to hit one with my board. Still I can’t help myself – if I’m going to catch a wave today I need to be really close to the beach, which unfortunately means being close to all the big rocks… Finally I catch a wave, it’s short but sweet. No hang five today either. Not even close. But I go back home to Stockholm with a smile on my face. And like I told you before, one of the first things I learned about surfing: The one with the biggest smile is the winner, always. The day after, I continue my notorious practice on my skateboard longboard, going down the streets of Stockholm with five toes outside of the board. I promise myself that by the end of of this summer I will have done at least a cheater five. To be continued…

This might be wishful thinking. But how great wouldn’t be if we could get a hot sunny Midsummer this year. If so, I would wear my sustainable white cotton dress from Gina tricot and a floral head wreath.

Just remembered this interview I did for Danish Elle earlier this spring about my shoe wardrobe. If there is something I enjoy when it comes to fashion it is a pair of beautifully made shoes.

Do you have a specific style in shoes?

I like a good plattform like my Pradas shoes in light brown. For daily use I almost only wear sneakers or sandals in the summer. K.Jacque is a family business that are based i St Tropez that make these amazing handmade sandals. They just get more beautiful with time. I always try to see my shoes as investments that will last for a long time. Two things that I look for is timeless design and good quality. The colors are really important too. I want my shoe wardrobe to be synchronized with the rest of my wardrobe.

Does any of your shoes have a specific story, have you been hunting any of them?

Well the craziest shoes I’ve ever bought where these gladiator sandals that go out to the knee. I was love at first sight when I saw the illustration of them on the cover on the The New Yorker. They where crazy expensive so I couldn’t even dream about buying them for full price so I just tried to forget about them. And then one day I was just strolling the internet as usual and I find them on 60% off. Just this one pair in my size. I saw that as faith so I bought them. Maybe good things really comes to those who wait.

What are your favorite shoes and why?

I even though I have loads of high heeled shoes I love wearing flats. I have one pair that I wear all year round from Dries van Noten. They are patted leather and have a thick raw rubber sole.

Where do you shoe shop?

Shoes is something I like to buy when I’m traveling. When I’m in Italy I love to go to Prada and when in Paris I always visit the beautiful Dries van Noten store on 7 Quai Malaquais.

Do you have any favorite shoe brands?

I love Stella McCartney’s shoes. The black sling-backs are my favorite heels both for day and night. Prada makes the most comfortable heels and all the ones I have has quite a timeless design.

_Y8B7267_redigerad

How do you use your shoes, what should they be able to do?

Since I have a dog I like to be able to walk easily. Sounds pretty straight forward but it truly is an art to make shoes that are just as comfortable as they are easy on the eye.

Do you have shoes that you will never get rid of?

Well I have a pair of pink, purple and green flower sandals that I have never worn. That where given to me as a gift from the designer Mimmi Plange after I styled her fashion show. The shoes where specially made by Manolo Blahnik for here spring collection show. I love them, just need to find the right moment to wear them.

Metal loops and a lace

The other day we were doing a photo shoot at mine and I completely fell in love with the sweater from Gina Tricot. It is not going to be out in stores until this autumn. But it gave me the idea to do this is the very same lazing on to a sweater I already had home. All one needs to do it is metal loops and a lace, done!

Good morning!

There are a few things I always look for when I visit flee markets and vintage stores. These cups are one of these things. And when I the other week found the cups I have been looking for the last couple a years, I just had to get them. They always reminded me of the once we have at the country house. And every time I see them they make me think of sunny summer mornings by the sea.

The past few days the weather forecast had really been driving me crazy. All of a sudden the winds that Magic Seaweed had promised me were gone and the quest of trying to learn how to do a hang five looked more difficult than ever...

The past few days the weather forecast had really been driving me crazy. All of a sudden the winds that Magic Seaweed had promised me were gone and the quest of trying to learn how to do a hang five looked more difficult than ever. Still I felt I had get out there and give it a shot, so we drove out to Torö, for me to try my luck.

The stony beach was windy, but it was not the right kind of wind, unfortunately. I was probably the only one in Stockholm who wished for worse weather, praying for a spring storm to sweep over the ocean and give me some good waves. A bit frustrated I put on my wetsuit, waxed my board and adjusted my head cam, I was ready to get into the water.

And once in the water my frustration with the weather quickly disappeared and I remembered why I love surfing so much. Just being in the water is so relaxing. The water was cold but refreshing and every now and then the sun peeked out, making the water look like it had a golden surface. And even though I didn’t even catch a wave that day I had a smile on my face the entire time I was in the water.

The following day I spent a hour on my longboard skateboard practicing cross stepping back and forward and putting five toes outside the boards nose – which is what it takes to do a hang five. I felt so ready to get in the water again… Weather, please help me?

Organic cotton t-shirt

Here in London the sun is shining and we’re just about to go walk in the park. I don’t think I realized how much I miss London and all my friends here. The other day in Stockholm I was wearing this T-shirt made of organic cotton and my favorite jeans right now. Pretty much what I’ll be wearing for the rest of the summer I think.

My three favorite flea markets

Posted in Life
by Emma Elwin on 2 June, 2015

Emma leaves the city to go flea market hunting – here are her three favorite spots.

This weekend I paid my very good friend Emma and visit at their idyllic house outside of Stockholm. Emma is one of the most creative people I know when it comes to house decorating. She always has a eye out for really good flea market finds. So our plan was to visit all her goldmines, where she finds all the amazing stuff that you have to pay a fortune for in the city.

On my shopping list (yes I had prepared a shopping list to prevent myself for impulsive purchases I don’t really need) was, serving bowls, a lamp for the living room and a vase. And I have to say I’m quite proud of myself, I found all the things I had listed and I only came home with two other things that weren’t on the list but that I couldn’t resist to buy: a sea shell that I’m gonna give back to the ocean eventually and a little jewelry box.

Here are my top three favorite vintage and antique places from our trip:

Qvartinge Antik, Qvartringe gård
Antik och kuriosa, Gula industrihuset Brogatan 21
Loppis, Laxnevägen 19

My dream coat

Coat, Margret Howell.

Currently I’m obsessed with finding the perfect spring jacket. One that can endure rain and wind but still does not feel like something you would wear in the Autumn.

This one from Margaret Howell is my dream coats. It’s got the perfect colour, the classic lines and silhouettes, and the cotton is showerproof. Unfortunately my size is out of stock but I’m hoping that my weekend in London and a visit to one of her stores will bring me the fortune of finding one in my size. You lucky ones who don’t have the same height as a Hobbit can buy this jacket online in size medium.

Natural beauty

Now a days I only wear organic beauty products. These are my four favorites!

I often get questions about my beauty routines, and to be honest I’m quite lazy when it comes to doing anything in the morning. Me being very lazy has made me very comfortable wearing on almost no make up. It actually turns out to be good for me, because I have the worst case of hay-fever.

Anyway, when I do wear make up I only wear RMS beauty. These are my four favorites! The Lip2cheek is as the name suggests great for both lips and cheeks. The concealer is great for spots. And the luminizer I use on my cheekbones, on the top of the lip and just under the eyebrow as a highlighter.

For a day at the country house

I love dressing for a day in the outdoors. Rain coat, cable knit, comfortable jeans and wellington boots is the perfect outfit for a day at the country house.
