Eternal Flame: Elin Alemdar

Posted in Life

To the designer, the word ’happiness’ is the essence of what goes on in life.

Elin Alemdar is the former elite gymnast who ended up in New York in 2001 to study fashion design at Fashion Institute of Technology. Showcasing her first collection was the start of Stylein. When moving back to Sweden a year later, Elin continued to work with the brand, creating wearable yet sensual clothes for women of all ages.

We asked Elin to share her Eternal Flame– a thing that holds a special place in her heart.

Tell us about your Eternal Flame!

”This hand is the sign of the word ’happiness’. I found two similar ones on a flea market on a back street in Hong Kong for over 8 years ago. I had visited one of Stylein’s factories and gained such a strong attraction to these two beautiful hands. Four years later I met my current husband named Kamran and his name means ’luck’ in Kurdish. To me, the word ’happiness’ is the essence of what goes on in life. To dare to be happy and not let worry and negativity take over. I think we all feel good to question what actually makes us happy every now and then and see that you are on the right path in life.”
