The past few days the weather forecast had really been driving me crazy. All of a sudden the winds that Magic Seaweed had promised me were gone and the quest of trying to learn how to do a hang five looked more difficult than ever. Still I felt I had get out there and give it a shot, so we drove out to Torö, for me to try my luck.
The stony beach was windy, but it was not the right kind of wind, unfortunately. I was probably the only one in Stockholm who wished for worse weather, praying for a spring storm to sweep over the ocean and give me some good waves. A bit frustrated I put on my wetsuit, waxed my board and adjusted my head cam, I was ready to get into the water.
And once in the water my frustration with the weather quickly disappeared and I remembered why I love surfing so much. Just being in the water is so relaxing. The water was cold but refreshing and every now and then the sun peeked out, making the water look like it had a golden surface. And even though I didn’t even catch a wave that day I had a smile on my face the entire time I was in the water.
The following day I spent a hour on my longboard skateboard practicing cross stepping back and forward and putting five toes outside the boards nose – which is what it takes to do a hang five. I felt so ready to get in the water again… Weather, please help me?
