Prints are often fishy things

Every Friday, our expert Anna answers the questions we all ask ourselves when it comes to fashion and sustainability. This week’s topic is toxics – how do we to the greatest extent possible avoid toxics in our clothes? Her bulletpoints are pretty straight forward: pick garments with an eco label, as locally produced as possible – and stay away from suspicious prints. We seldom know how prints are made. My Radarte print tee is a failure according to all these three rules. :c

Lisa in a beautiful suede coat.

This vintage suede coat isn’t mine, it’s Columbine’s. This bothers me tremendously. I want it. I will never return it. Ok?

Best vintage stores in New York.

Ok, so I am indeed in New York, and this town is filled with reasons not to buy brand new clothes. There’s so much good second hand, it’s silly, but also more brands with greener policies. I’ll give you some of my favorite spots during my stay, as I tick them off my list.

INA Nothing new here – INA is one of the best luxury consignment stores. They are also very much aware of it, so it’s pricy. I’m considering a green leather trench from Burberry. There are a few INA:s, I prefer the Prince street one, while the newer, bigger one on East 13th Street isn’t at all too exciting.

IN SUPPORT OF on West 13th Street showcases independent designers while supporting various charitable causes. There are some great pieces from Nanushka, who produces her designs in Hungary from fabrics that are sourced locally in Europe.

NARNIA VINTAGE Filippa Berg’s favorite vintage store in the world, I presume I’ve only been to the Lower East Side one, which is amazing. Definitely worth a visit.

TOKIO 7 Many of my best finds are from here. Pricy but original. A lot of Japanese labels like Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto. Huge, you need a lot of time to find the best stuff here.
