I think I will wear them still when I'm 80

Yvonne Koné founded her namesake shoe- and bag brand in 2011. She’s involved in every step of the production process and values traditional craftmanship as much as contemprary design and functionality. Make it last asks her about a piece that she’s valued for a long time – an eternal flame.

“I was 14 when I first bought a pair of vintage Levi’s jeans for my own money. I lived in a small town and had to go one hour by train to find a shop that carried them. They were expensive and I remember my mother thought it was completely crazy to buy used jeans that were actually more expensive than a new pair. But the used look was exactly what made them special to me. Ever since then I haven’t had a period without at least one pair of vintage Levi’s jeans in my wardrobe. I love the color and the way they age naturally. They feel like a second skin to wear and are perfect for summer. And they can be dressed up or down, which is something essential to me. I think I will wear them still when I’m 80.”

What would be your general advice to everyone envying this thing of yours?
– Find a vintage shop that carries a wide selection of vintage Levis 501 and take you time to find the perfect pair that fits your body. Remember that they will be lighter and softer over time.
